PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head device wherein stable head characteristics are set between magnetic head elements by setting an FPC shape to one kind, and making constant a signal line pattern on an FPC (flexible print wiring board). SOLUTION: This magnetic head device 1 is constituted of a head chip 13 disposed on one side face of a plurality of magnetic head elements 12, a pair of side chips 14 arranged to sandwich the head chip 13, a pedestal 15 to which the head chip 13 and the side chips 14 are attached, a pair of rail parts 16 arranged on the side faces of the head chip 13 and the side chips 14, and a flexible printed wiring board (FPC, hereinafter) 18 connected to the terminal parts 12a of the plurality of magnetic head elements 12. The FPC 18 is formed in a shape having a length roughly equal to the interval of the terminal ends 12a with respect to the head chip 13. Signal lines 20 extended to a main substrate are set in parallel at equal intervals, and the lengths of all the signal lines 20 are equal. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
