PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head which is damaged little by sticking of foreign matters, is worn little and has a long life. SOLUTION: The magnetic head 100, in which a medium sliding surface 110 formed slenderly in a convex curved surface shape along from the upstream side to the downstream side in the sliding direction of a recording medium is provided on each one surface of core blocks 102, 103 and a magnetic gap G is formed in the medium sliding surface 110 is characterized in that the surface 110 is formed in circular-arc shape having a radius of curvature R along its longitudinal direction and also it is formed in circular-arc shape having a radius of curvature (r) smaller than the radius of curvature R along its width direction and moreover the radius of curvature (r) is formed so as to decrease continuously from the vicinity of the magnetic gap G toward the downstream end in the sliding direction of the recording medium.
