PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method which enable a communication device to specify a level of quality of service and secure resources so as to be suitable for desired level of quality of service. SOLUTION: A communication system is provided with a communication network, a resource-mediating server coupled with the network and one or more communication device. The resource-mediating server is constituted so as to manage information regarding the available resources required for executing tasks by the communication device. The communication device is constituted so as to provide functions of communication with the network, task execution using the required resources accessed through the network, task execution adaptable to information regarding the available resources, etc. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
