<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an optical path switching device which can relay a high-speed optical signal without converting the optical signal into an electric signal. <P>SOLUTION: The optical path switching device branches a packet of the optical signal by an optical branching means, inputs the one branched optical signal to an optical switch, and drives the optical switch based on the electric signal converted from other optical signal to thereby switch a path of an optical network. Further improvement is given to the performance.
