METHOD OF MANUFACTURING METALLIC CARRIER FOR EXHAUST GAS PURIFICATION AND CATALYST CARRIER THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a coating thickness from differing depending on a region on the peripheral length of a cell with a hexagonal cross section.

SOLUTION: A corrugated foil 13 has 1/2 hexagons 11 continuously formed at an equal interval and a metallic catalyst made of palladium and rhodium deposited on the corrugated foil 13. The 1/2 hexagons 11 are arranged opposite to each other at a position where a hexagonal opening part is formed and honeycomb-shaped as a whole. This honeycomb-shaped body is housed in a sleeve with the help of a guide. The metallic carrier 1 for exhaust gas purification constituted as described shows the approximately homogenized coating thickness of a catalyst carried by each of the sides of the six hexagonal opening and almost no excess-coating accumulation at the six corners.
