PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a towel fabric having openwork with a high decorative property. SOLUTION: The towel fabric comprises a ground yarn 1 woven from warp 11 and weft 12 and a pile yarn 2 formed of a cotton yarn woven in the ground yarn 1, and both of the warp 11 and the weft 12 are formed of a material which is not dissolved in solvents for cotton and the warp 11 and the weft 12 are knitted in an entangled state so that crossing positions of the warp 11 and the weft 12 are shifted and openwork 3 is formed by dissolving a part of the pile yarn 2 while leaving the ground yarn 1 by the solvent for cotton.
