摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection display device which uses cross dichroic prisms as means for synthesizing color light, prevents the display performance thereof from being deteriorated by the structural problems of the cross dichroic prisms, projects, and displays high-grade videos. SOLUTION: The display device has: a first optical element 210 for condensing the luminous flux emitted from a light source 100 and converting the luminous flux to a plurality of the intermediate luminous fluxes spatially separated from each other; a second optical element 220 arranged near the position where the intermediate luminous fluxes converge; dichroic mirrors 401 and 402 for separating the luminous fluxes emitted from the second optical element 220 to the luminous fluxes of three colors; liquid crystal panels 411, 412 and 413 for modulating the respective separated luminous fluxes; the cross dichroic prisms 450 for synthesizing a plurality of the modulated luminous fluxes; and a projection lens 460 for projecting the synthesized luminous flux.
