PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow use at ambient temperatures, and to precisely detect hydrogen gas. SOLUTION: This hydrogen gas sensor 10 is constituted of a sensor element 11 using a coordinated polymer metal complex (R<SB>2</SB>dtoaM) as a medium for sensing hydrogen, and a measuring means 12 for measuring electric resistance of the sensor element. (C<SB>3</SB>H<SB>6</SB>OH)<SB>2</SB>dtoaCu, (C<SB>2</SB>H<SB>4</SB>OH)<SB>2</SB>dtoaCu, H<SB>2</SB>dtoaCu and the like may be used as the coordinated polymer metal complex. Since the hydrogen sensor 10 is usable at ambient temperature, and the electrical resistivity is reduced by about nine orders of magnitude accompanying the occlusion of hydrogen detection of hydrogen gas with high sensitivity becomes possible. A manufacturing method for the hydrogen sensor using (C<SB>3</SB>H<SB>6</SB>OH)<SB>2</SB>dtoaCu is provided also in the present invention. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
