PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic tensioner stably securing attenuation effects of a swing energy for a long period even if there are a lot of abrasion powders to be produced. SOLUTION: An annular base part 11a of an abrasion powder removing member 11 is fixed to a support base (an immobile side) 7a of a support member 7. A linear part (an extrusion part) 11b elastically deformably provided to the base part 11a is disposed inside a groove 10b of a friction plate (a swing side) 10, and the linear part 11b is moved inside the groove 10b according to a relative positional change between the friction plate 10 and the support base part 7a, so that the abrasion powders inside the groove 10b are forcedly pushed out to the groove outside.
