A device and a method for realizing an improved processing for content test listening in content use based on content usage right information. Upon registration on a license server, a client acquires a default usage right and upon test listening not requiring content purchase processing, it is judged whether content reproduction is enabled according to the default usage right information. A client allowed to perform test listening is limited to a client who has performed registration on the license server and has default usage right information. Thus, it is possible to prevent flood of test listening data out of order.
