The radio aerial (2) is buried in an external door handle (7). It is typically buried in a fixed hand grip formed as a loop fastened to the outer skin of the door at both ends. The aerial consists of two separate coils (9) wound round two separate ferrite rods (10). The rods are embedded in the ends of the handgrip and are at a slight angle to each other. Signals from a code transmitter in the key are picked up by the aerial in the door, and are transmitted to a receiver circuit and a door unlocking actuator. |
