PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid detection system in an inkjet recorder enabling noncontact detection of liquid or a liquid drop wherein a small liquid drop or a small quantity of liquid can especially be detected stably with high sensitivity and a good S/N (signal to noise) ratio in a short detection time. SOLUTION: In the system enabling noncontact detection of a liquid drop by detecting infrared rays being emitted therefrom, the circumference of a sensor is shielded. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
