PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device in which a smooth video signal can be obtained by reducing noise at the boundary of light receiving regions, and the deterioration of image quality caused by a sample hold pulse or a following circuit can be reduced. SOLUTION: The imaging device comprises a solid state image sensor 20 outputting video signals, respectively, from a plurality of light receiving regions, a circuit 24 for sample holding the video signals outputted from respective light receiving regions, and a drive circuit 22 generating a pulse for driving a horizontal charge transfer circuit of the solid state image sensor and a matching sample hold pulse. When the horizontal charge transfer circuit and the sample hold circuit are driven intermittently after a signal is outputted from at least one of first and last pixels in each light receiving region, noise is reduced at the boundary of the light receiving regions and a smooth video image can be obtained. Consequently, the deterioration of image quality caused by the following circuit can be reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
