PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein, when a projector main body is installed in a state of trapezoidal distortion exceeding of correctable range, it is necessary to adjust the installed state of the projector main body over several times since images, in which the trapezoidal distortion remains even when the correction of automatic trapezoidal distortion is completed, are projected, and the installing working is complicated. SOLUTION: In this device, when it is detected that the deformation volume of the trapezoidal distortion to be compensated exceeds the extent of the maximum deformation volume established beforehand (extent which can be compensated), information (pictures and voices indicating adjusting contents of installation) is made to be output from an information outputting means.
