PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conveying method of a sheet that can remove a contamination from a platen of a printer at low cost whereby a user need not care about management of a cleaning sheet. SOLUTION: A cleaning sheet 54 is forwardly moved by 4 mm from a position at a distance of 2 mm from the end of an uppermost face of a rib 31 where the tip of the cleaning sheet is placed and the cleaning sheet 54 is backwardly moved by 2 mm. As the movement of advancement of 4 mm and withdrawal of 2 mm is repeated four times, the tip of the cleaning sheet reaches a downstream side end from an upstream side end of the uppermost face of the rib 31 in the conveyance direction. By the above operation, the contamination 52 of the ink at the uppermost face of the rib 31 is scraped to be removed by the edge of the cleaning sheet 54, and then the ink is absorbed.
