PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an ultralarge-sized press which can not be produced in the conventional technique by performing press working by applying gravity, to obtain a sufficient pressurization rate without requiring power by applying gravity descending on pressurizing working, further to eliminate the deformation (strain) caused by pressurizing force of a press body that is incapable of being avoided fatally in the conventional press, and to enable press working with high precision. SOLUTION: A gravity block 1 is raised and lowered at a prescribed velocity by the operation of a hydraulic pressure cylinder 2 in which the velocity and output are controlled by a hydraulic pressure control apparatus and a position detection apparatus 7 along a raising/lowering guide 6 whose outside is provided on the inner circumference of the frame part in the upper part of a base material 3. Press operation is performed by applying the gravity of the gravity block 1 between an upper die4 fitted to the lower face of the gravity block 1 and a lower die 5 fitted onto the working surface of the base frame 3.
