PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply treating ash which contains heavy metal or the like in a short period and at a low cost. SOLUTION: In the treatment method, an iron compound solution is added to incineration ash. The resulting mixture is kneaded, allowed to stand for a prescribed period of time, and thereafter heat-treated. Because of being left standing while being heated, the standing period can be sharply shortened and the efficiency of ferrous sulfate as an iron compound is made high. Further, by adding an alkaline earth metal compound after heating treatment, arsenic and selenium can be insolubilized over a wide pH range of the acidic-alkaline region. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
