PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for preventing freezing of tap water making it possible to easily confirm whether or not a heating element has been disconnected. SOLUTION: The apparatus 1 for preventing freezing of tap water has an on/off switch 9. A light-emitting diode 7 is normally connected in parallel with the heating element 2 between feeder lines 4, 5. Because the light-emitting diode 7 blinks as a thermoswitch 6 turns on and off, whether the apparatus 1 is operating or stopped can be confirmed by viewing the diode 7. A feeder circuit where the diode 7 is connected in series with the heating element 2 by bypassing the thermoswitch 6 is formed with the press of the on/off switch 9. When the heating element 2 is under normal conditions, the diode 7 turns on; when the heating element 2 is disconnected, the diode 7 will not turn on. Thus, whether or not the heating element 2 is disconnected can be confirmed by viewing the diode 7 while the on/off switch 9 is pressed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
