<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire a sensor level of various sensors of a printier through a communication interface. <P>SOLUTION: When a CPU 11 receives a sensor level return request command transmitted from a PC 200 through an external interface 17, a screen for asking the operator whether to perform sensor level return processing is indicated at an indication unit 19. In the case where sensor level return processing is instructed to be executed, a motor control part 14 is instructed to convey a paper 1 by only a predetermined metric, and at the same time it is recursively directed to an A/D conversion circuit 23 for a fixed time interval to convert each output voltage value of a pitch sensor 9 and an end sensor 22 to digital data and provide the same. The CPU 11 transmits each sensor level provided from the A/D conversion circuit 23 to the PC 200 through the external interface 17.
