PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent lamp in which a lamp property can be maintained. SOLUTION: The fluorescent lamp has a straight tube-formed glass tube 2 having airtightness, and phosphor and a protecting film substance are coated on the inner face, and argon gas or the like is filled. As for the end part of the glass tube 2 of the fluorescent lamp, a lead wire 6 is fixed to a stem 5, and a filament 7 is mounted between the tip ends. A thermionic emission matter is installed at the filament 7. An exhaust pipe 8 is mounted on the stem 5, a communicating hole 9 is formed by opening a hole, and a getter material 15 activated at 450°C is sealed in the exhaust pipe 8. Because the getter material 15 is activated at 450°C, the glass tube 2 softens by heating, and deformation by atmospheric pressure is prevented. Because water molecule of H<SB>2</SB>O on a surface or the like of the glass tube 2 is desorbed at around 100°C, and impure gases such as decomposition gas of CO<SB>2</SB>or CO is desorbed at 250°C or more, any of them are surely desorbed.
