PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detergent composition which exhibits a pasty-solid state even at a high temperature, excellently foams, has excellent sense of use free from a tingling feel on the skin and excellent stability. SOLUTION: The detergent composition is obtained by formulating (a) a taurine derivative represented by general formula (1) R<SP>1</SP>CO-NHR<SP>2</SP>CH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>SO<SB>3</SB>X (R<SP>1</SP>is a 10-24C hydrocarbon group; R<SP>2</SP>is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; X is an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal, ammonium or an organic amine) with (b)one or more kinds selected from an inorganic salt and an organic salt, (c) polyethylene glycol and (d) water.
