An magneto-optical recording medium comprises a transparent substrate, a magnetic recording layer provided on one side of the transparent substrate, a metallic layer provided on the magnetic recording layer, and a printed portion provided on the metallic layer and having a first thickness. The magneto-optical recording medium further comprises a resin protective layer provided on the one side of the transparent substrate by coating and having a second thickness greater than the first thickness. The second thickness preferably ranges from 10 to 30 µm.
