ACTIVE CARBON CARRIER, CATALYST-CARRYING ACTIVE CARBON, AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active carbon carrier which, in order to improve the reaction efficiency of hydrogenation and dehydrogenation reactions by a catalyst, has a large specific surface area and is excellent in thermal conductivity and diffusibility of hydrogen gas, a reaction raw material, and a product, and catalyst-carrying active carbon.

SOLUTION: The active carbon carrier is composed of fibrous active carbon and characterized by having a surface acidic functional group by XPS analysis of at least 1.0% and a gas-permeability of at least 200 cm3/cm2s. The carrier preferably has a toluene adsorption capacity of at least 40 g/m2or a specific surface area by a BET adsorption isotherm method of 1,200-2,500 m2/g. The catalyst-carrying active carbon, is characterized in that the catalyst is carried on the active carbon carrier.
