<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous pigment dispersion excellent in pigment dispersion stability and long-term storage stability; and a method for manufacturing an ink composition using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The aqueous pigment dispersion is prepared by kneading a mixture of an anionic-group-containing resin, a pigment, and a basic compound and dispersing the resultant solid or semisolid kneaded mixture in an aqueous solvent with a collision-type dispersing machine.
