<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic powder having oxidation resistance and high magnetic characteristics, and to provide a bonded magnet using the magnetic powder. <P>SOLUTION: The Sm<SB>2</SB>Fe<SB>17</SB>nitride-based magnetic powder 1 having an average particle diameter of 10 μm or less contains oxygen of 0.3-1.3 wt%, and a film containing oxygen is formed on the inside of the surface of the magnetic powder 1.
