PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress increasing of slippage between a take-up roller and warp yarns in a warp yarn take-up tension regulating process by contacting a number of warp yarns in a sheet shape to the take-up roller, and regulating action-force of the take-up roller to the warp yarns. SOLUTION: The tensioning apparatus 11 of a warp yarn preparatory machine which imparts predetermined tension to the warp yarns 3 by contacting a number of warp yarns 3 in the sheet shape to the take-up roller 9 and regulating the action-force of the take-up roller 9 to the warp yarns 3, continues running of the warp yarns 3 by detecting slippage between the warp yarns 3 and the take-up roller 9 and reduces the action-force of the take-up roller 9 to the warp yarns 3 according to the slippage in the running of the warp yarns 3.
