PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage treatment apparatus which can sufficiently decompose garbage without generating offensive odors with regard to a garbage treatment apparatus which reduces the amount and volume of garbage mainly generated in the kitchen of a home. SOLUTION: The garbage treatment apparatus is constituted by being provided with an air-blowing means 32, a microorganism treatment tank 20 for decomposing garbage 24 dried in a drying treatment part 29 by microorganisms, a microorganism carrier water content sensor 36 for measuring the water content in the tank 20, and an airflow control means 37 for controlling the air-blowing means 32 corresponding to measurement results by the sensor 36. In this way, after the water content of the charged garbage 24 is adjusted by the drying treatment part 29, the garbage 24 can be transferred to the tank 20, and the water content of a microorganism carrier can be kept at a proper value. Therefore, garbage decomposition capability can be secured, and the garbage 24 can be decomposed sufficiently without generating the offensive odors. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
