The display apparatus displays a color image by controlling a number of emissions (NSP) in accordance with primary video signals (R, G, B). A calculating circuit (CC, CS) calculates a weighted sum (IL) of the primary video signals (R, G, B) and limits the number of emissions (NSP) dependent on the weighted sum (IL). In the weighted sum (IL), at least one of the primary video signals (R, G, B) is weighted differently than another one of the primary video signals (R, G, B). This allows selecting the contribution of the different primary colors (R, G, B) to the weighted sum (IL) such that the number of emissions (NSP) is controlled differently for different primary colors (R, G, B). Consequently, the power (P) can be limited for each of the primary colors (R, G, B) at substantially the same value. |
