Fluoro-copolymer contains polymer backbones of continuous carbon-carbon bonds linked by divalent group and optionally divalent group derived from maleic salt or maleimide, at least one of which has a fluoro-substituent. Fluoro-copolymer contains structural element(s) of formulae (I) and (II) or 2 or structural elements (II), such that at least one element has a fluoro substituent: [Image] PB : a polymer backbone of continuous covalent carbon-carbon (C-C) bonds; Z 1>, Z 2>O ->M +>or O ->N +>R 4or in one case only X-R or one or both is X-RN and the other may be X'-R; or Z 1>Z 2>NR, N-R or -N-RN; M : Li, Na or K; R : H, linear 1-18 C alkyl, -(CH 2-CHR'-O-) mL or an amino-sugar, e.g. aminosorbitol, beta -D-glucopyranosylamine or beta -D-glucosamine; m : 1-20; L : H, CH 2-CHR'-NR' 2or CH 2-CHR'-N +>R' 3; X : O or NH; X' : O, S or NH; X : O, S or NR'; R : H, 1-18 C linear or branched, (un)saturated (fluoro)alkyl, 4-24 C (un)saturated, mono- or polycyclic (fluoro)cycloalkyl, 6-24 C (fluoro)aryl or (fluoro)heteroaryl or R; RN : linear or branched 2-25 C alkyl or 5-25 C cycloalkyl containing at least one amino group; R 1>, R 2>, R 3>H or linear or branched 1-4 C alkyl; Y : H, linear or branched 1-24 C (fluoro)alkyl, 6-24 C (fluoro)cycloalkyl, 6-24 C (fluoro)aryl, C(O)OR, 7-24 C (fluoro)alkaryl or (fluoro)alkoxyalkaryl; and If Z 1>= O ->M +>and Z 2>= OR, R : a fluoro-substituent, neither Z 1>nor Z 2>= X-RN and Z 1>Z 2>not = N-RN.
