STARTING DEVICE FOR OCCUPANT PROTECTION DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starting device for an occupant protection device that starts the protection device appropriately in accordance with a detection result such as a window opening/closing status.

SOLUTION: This starting device includes: an angular velocity sensor 21 for detecting a roll angle velocity of a vehicle; a relative angle calculating means 31 for calculating a roll relative angle of the vehicle based on the roll angular velocity; a roll determining means 33 for determining a roll of the vehicle when the roll angle velocity and the roll relative angle meet a predetermined threshold condition; a drive control means 34 for starting a curtain air bag 41 and a pre-tensioner 42 when it is determined to be the roll of the vehicle; a buckle switch 21 for detecting a wearing status of a seatbelt; a window opening/closing detecting sensor 22 for detecting a window opening/closing status of the vehicle; and a threshold switching means 32 for setting a predetermined threshold condition based on a detection result by the buckle switch 21 and the sensor 22.
