<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately process images even at its edge where a reference region extrudes out from an original image when conducting filter processing, etc., by referring to an image of interest and neighboring images. <P>SOLUTION: The method allows setting up of an alternative value, corresponding to a region outside an effective region of an original image.
