PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain generation of high efficiency by increasing ratio of torque/(square of a current) by a 2-layer air gap structure, in the induction motor of radial air gap type. SOLUTION: A rotor 3 is arranged between cylindrical external/internal peripheral side stators 1,2, to provide a structure having a 2-layer radial air gap. The external/internal peripheral side stator 1,2 is provided with teeth 1b,2b applying windings 6,7, and the rotor 3 is provided with a conductor 3a of squirrel cage-shaped winding and an end ring 3b. Each tooth 1b,2b of the external/internal peripheral side stator 1,2 is applied with the windings 6,7 for generating a rotating magnetic field necessary relating to the rotor 3. An induction current is allowed to flow in the conductor 3a in this rotating magnetic field, turning force is generated in the conductor 3a by interaction of this rotating magnetic field and its induction current.
