PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner, a display device, and a driving method for the optical scanner by which a large scanning range can be secured with simple device constitution without using resonance and excellent resolution can be obtained. SOLUTION: A torsional support part 5 which supports a mirror 1 is coupled integrally with upper ends of support parts 6a and 6b arrayed across the torsional support part 5. In the optical scanner 10 which is thus constituted, the support parts 6a and 6b slant as coupling ends of fixed members 10a and 10b, and 10c and 10d which are coupled with the support parts 6a and 6b are displaced in directions which are contrary to each other in a longitudinal direction in Fig. The upper end of the torsional support part 5 coupled with the upper ends of the support parts 6a and 6b is sharply slanted on the principle of leverage, so the mirror 1 supported by the torsional support part 5 can be sharply slanted.
