PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microscope capable of effectively developing super-resolution with simple constitution. SOLUTION: In the microscope using a double resonance absorption process, a CW laser is used as a 2nd light source to generate erasing light. The microscope is constituted to satisfy W≥0.37×(π×λ<SP>2</SP>×ε)/(σ×τ×NA<SP>2</SP>) when it is assumed that the light intensity of the erasing light is W, the wavelength thereof isλ, photon energy isε, absorption cross section obtained when a molecule in a sample transits to a 2nd electronic excitation state isσ, the life of the molecule in a 1st electronic excitation state isτ, and the effective numerical aperture of an optical system is NA.
