PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plastic optical fiber cable having fire retardancy without lowering mechanical characteristics in forming a fire-retardant coating layer, and its manufacture method. SOLUTION: The optical fiber cable has a plastic optical fiber as a strand, has a coating layer containing a metal hydroxide whose average particle size is≤2μm, and has a stage for coating the plastic optical fiber with the coating layer containing the metal hydroxide whose average particle size is≤2μm.
