PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate transmission of a signal to a print head assembly having an array (PWA) of page width. SOLUTION: The fluid ejection and scan assembly 126 comprises a liquid drop ejection element 702 operating to eject fluid from an associated nozzle chamber 910. The ejection element is coupled with a first photosensor 710 and arranged to operate the ejection element when light from a light source 106 impinges thereon.
