PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steam valve preventing a damage of a strainer due to collision of foreign matter, suppressing a pressure loss in the steam valve, and reducing the running cost of a steam plant in the steam valve provided with the strainer for removing foreign matter in a pipe. SOLUTION: This steam valve comprises a body case, a valve chest formed into an approximately cylindrical shape in the body case, the approximately cylindrical strainer disposed in the valve chest, a valve seat provided in the bottom of the valve chest, the valve element seated on the valve seat and advancing/retreating in the strainer inside the valve chest, a steam inlet provided in an approximately perpendicular direction to the cylindrical surface in the valve chest, and a baffle plate provided in the valve chest inner surface in a position opposed to the steam inlet. This steam valve is characterized in fitted with a protecting plate, which is in the approximately same direction to the tangent direction of the strainer in the baffle plate installation position, in the longitudinal whole length of the baffle plate and formed into a T-cross-sectional stop plate.
