A method of manufacturing a thermoplastic resin container, comprising the steps of pre-forming, by a plug, the portion of a thermoplastic resin sheet which corresponds to the mouth part or the flange part of a cup-like container and clamping and forming the pre-formed portion of the thermoplastic resin sheet in a method for thermally forming the cup-like container of the thermoplastic resin sheet by the plug, whereby an increase in wall thickness of the container at the bottom part and the deflection of the flange part thereof can be improved.
