PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for image formation which are excellent in toner transfer performance and cleaning performance, even when a toner of reduced particle size is used and provide an electrophotographic image of high picture quality by preventing image defects such as black dots and white voids in reversal development. SOLUTION: The image forming method is characterized in that: a surface layer of an organic photoreceptor contains a charge transfer substance containing a up to 40 to 90 mass % solid isomer component in a solid isomer mixture; the toner is 1.0 to 1.15 in the ratio (Dv50/Dp50) of the 50% volume particle size (Dv50) and 50% number particle size (Dp50) of toner particles, and 1.0 to 1.20 in the ratio (Dv75/Dp75) of the cumulative 75% volume particle size (Dv75) in the decreasing order of volume p article size and cumulative 75% number particle size (Dp75) in the decreasing order of number particle size; and the number of toner particles of≤0.7×(Dp50) in particle size is≤10 number %.
