PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical shaft pump capable of lowering the total height of the pump without impairing the pump performance. SOLUTION: A radius of curvature of a discharge casing 6 connected to a discharge side of a casing 1a of a pump body and bent into the approximately L-shape, is reduced, and a straightening plate 10 bent along a central line of the discharge casing 6 is mounted on a position of 1/5≤(rs-Ri)/(Ro-Ri)<1/3 when Ri is a radius at an inner peripheral side of the bent part of the discharge casing 6, Ro is a radius at an outer peripheral side, and rs is a position of the current plate 10. As the turbulent flow caused by the separation of water current generated when the radius of curvature of the bent part of the discharge casing 6 is reduced, is inhibited by the straightening plate 10, the impairing of the pump performance can not be found even when the total height of the vertical shaft pump is lowered by reducing the radius of curvature of the bent part of the discharge casing 6.
