PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a specimen analyzer for rapidly and surely reading an information bearing label attached on a specimen container by a specimen analyzer or a device disposed on its downstream side. SOLUTION: Based on positional information on a bar-code label 200 on an outer circumferential surface of a blood collection tube 100 detected by a glossiness sensor 14, a blood serum amount estimation device 1 adjusts the rotating position of the collection tube 100 by actuating a manipulator rotating mechanism 22 so as to cause the label 200 to face on a bar-code reader 13 and then reads the label 200. After optical detection is performed to analyze a blood specimen housed in the collection tube 100, the rotating position of the collection tube 100 is adjusted so to direct the label 200 in a prescribed direction and the collection tube 100 is returned to a blood collection tube rack 600. A plurality of blood collection tubes 100 on the rack 600 are sequentially treated and the directions of the labels 200 are aligned. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
