PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for wiping and cleaning a cylinder to apply and form a coating film thereto, which chucks two cylinders on one axial line to wipe and clean one cylinder with a wiping cloth and subsequently coating the cylinder with a photosensitive agent or the like and performing this process with respect to two cylinders bodies alternatively. SOLUTION: This coating apparatus is equipped with two cylinder chuck rotary means arranged on one exial line, a commonly usable moving stand, a movable bracket and a common use wiping and cleaning head and a coating head arranged in the axis direction of the cylinders. The wiping and cleaning head wipes and cleans the rotary cylinder from one end thereof to the other end thereof and, subsequently, the coating head coats the cylinder from one end thereof to the other end thereof to form a coating film. The rotation of the cylinder is continued until the coating film is dried. When the treatment to one cylinder is completed, the moving stand moves to treat the adjacent cylinder.
