A method and a tray for transporting a large glass pane, the method comprising the steps of horizontally storing rectangular large glass panes one by one in the tray (1), holding the glass panes in a recess (8) in the state of being positioned in a horizontal plane, and pressing the glass panes from an upper side by the tray (1) in the stacked state of the trays (1); the tray (1) comprising slits (9) allowing the forks of carrying equipment to move therein.
