METHOD OF DETECTING INEFFECTIVE PRIONIC PROTEINS (PRP<SC>) BY MEANS OF RAMAN-LASER SPECTROSCOPY

The invention relates to a method of detecting ineffective prionic proteins (PrP<Sc>) in biological samples of animals infected by a transmittable spongiform encephalopathy, using Raman-laser spectroscopy. The application of said method can be extended to the blood of cattle, goats, humans and birds among others. The inventive qualitative and quantitative method comprises a first step consisting in obtaining the fraction of blood containing the highest concentrations of ineffective prionic proteins. The results obtained using said method in relation to prion analysis fully correspond to the post-mortem biodiagnostic tests on cerebral samples performed on the corresponding animals from which blood samples have been taken.
