A door assembly in which a door 10 when moving from its closed to its open position moves across the door opening to one side of the frame 14. The door 10 then also moves angularly so as to lie transversely to the plane of the door opening and face across the door opening, has drive means for effecting lifting of the door 10 as a first stage of its opening movement before it moves angularly. This enables the door to clear an inclined floor in the door area of a vehicle such as a bus or coach. The drive means may include arms 24, 35, lead screw 32 connected to a motor 37 via a drive member 31. The door 10 may be lifted by the rotation of door support member 33 about guide member 34 caused by rotation of pin 41 acting on helical cam surface 44. This in turn moves arm 47 vertically upwards and thus lifting the door 10 via link member 48 and connected stop member 51. |
