PURPOSE: Provided are an apparatus and a method for separating oil and water by installing perforated tubes into wastewater to eliminate oils coagulated while passing through the tubes and solids by settlement. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a wastewater tank, a water inlet(1) provided at a side of the wastewater tank, a baffle(2) installed near the water inlet(1) in the wastewater tank for regulating the flow of water, a first and a second interception plates(3,5) provided in the wastewater tank for settling solids in wastewater, a bundle of perforated tubes(7) provided in the wastewater tank for floating oils and settling solids, an oil skimmer(9) for collecting and separating the floated oils, and an outlet provided at the other side of the wastewater tank for discharging the treated water, wherein the perforated tube is made of polypropylene and is 50 cm to 5 m long and its diameter is about 4 to 8 cm. The method comprises the steps of introducing wastewater containing oils into a wastewater tank while regulating the flow of the wastewater, settling solids in wastewater by bringing the solids into collision with interception plates, and eliminating the remainder of solids by bringing the solids into collision with perforated tubes and at the same time eliminating oils by coagulating and floating oils by passing the oils through the tubes.
