Data processing device and its method of operation

The random number generation method uses sampling of the outputs of independent frequency oscillators (10,12), for controlling respective flip-flops (14,16), the outputs of which are combined via a logic element (18), to provide an output value (40) fed to a parity circuit (20). A random number register (22) stores a series of parity numbers (44) provided by the parity circuit, for providing the random number sequence. An independent claim for a random number generator is also included.
