Production of a titanium-containing zeolite comprises: (a) adding a quaternary ammonium base to a mixture of a hydrolyzable silicon compound and a hydrolyzable titanium compound in an aqueous medium; (b) hydrolyzing the mixture at 0-100 degrees C to form a sol; (c) heating the sol to a temperature T1 of 150-190 degrees C in less than 240 minutes; and (d) crystallizing the sol at T1.
