A non-aqueous stain removing and bleaching composition suitable for use on textile materials or on the hands, comprises a reagent which on contact with water forms sulphur dioxide or sulphurous acid, e.g. sodium dithionite or a mixture of a salt of sulphurous acid and an acid, and one or more dirt-loosening or grease-emulsifying wetting agents mixed with ceresin as carrier, the ceresin being present in an amount such that the composition is in the form of a paste.
