FIELD: plastic metal working, namely cold upsetting tool, possibly for making rod type articles. SUBSTANCE: die includes inlet cavity; working cavity with shaping land; transition zone from inlet cavity until shaping land; and guiding cavity. The last has cylindrical portion and transition zone from said cylindrical portion until shaping land of working cavity. Surface of transition zone of guiding cavity is convex along radius and it is joined with surface of cylindrical portion along tangent surface inclined by angle no more than 30 degrees. Value of joined piece of tangent line is in range 0.1 - 1 mm. Radius of generatrix of convex surface is determined according to given mathematical relation.
